LexStrat Law is a strategic transactional law practice built for innovation-driven businesses.

We work alongside founders, executives, and leadership teams who are building, scaling, and transforming companies in technology, life sciences, and adjacent innovation-focused sectors. Our role is not simply to deliver legal advice, but to help leadership teams make better decisions by grounding legal judgment in a deep understanding of the business, the risks that truly matter, and the outcomes they are trying to achieve.

Our Founder
Shawn McAveney
Founder & Managing Attorney
LexStrat was founded by Shawn McAveney, an attorney and strategic advisor with deep experience at the intersection of law, business, and innovation.

Before founding LexStrat, Shawn was an executive for a global pharmaceutical company with both business and legal roles, and he practiced law in a national law firm. For over 20 years, he has routinely advised senior leadership inside large, complex organizations and high-growth environments, working across strategic transactions, procurement, governance, and risk. His experience spans global pharmaceuticals, technology, life sciences, and other highly regulated industries where legal decisions are inseparable from operational and strategic considerations.

Prior to practicing law, Shawn worked in business in multiple technology and operations roles, consistently driving technical innovation and business efficiencies.

That background shapes LexStrat’s approach today. Acting as a trusted insider, Shawn brings the perspective of someone who understands how legal advice is actually used by leadership teams under real-world constraints to navigating growth and change in the digital age.

Shawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, and has completed advanced executive education from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. He is also a professional member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals, with a focus on AI governance, ethics and privacy.

In addition to his legal and business practices, Shawn has been a family and community advocate - coaching youth sports, providing pro bono counseling to nonprofits, and serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT.
